{tea time}

For years I fantasized out loud about having a tea party...  and finally last summer I bit the bullet and threw together a tea party with some close friends.

I put up lanterns and tissue paper banners with the help of my mom and moved some furniture in the Redwood circle right out side our house.
Very magical for a nice summer day.

Made the gals put on their Sunday bests and we drank tea,
ate lime custard tartlettes and played croquet....

Can I just throw tea parties for my profession? Please?

We also tried on vintage hats. You know, to get the full tea party affect.

I've decided this woodland tea party must become an annual event.

{who's attle?}

Chloe and I wanted to embark on a mini-adventure/trip, so we hopped on a plane to “see Attle" for a few days.

{we were chatting about going to Seattle with our friend Marco
and he promptly asked "who's Attle?"}

We stayed with Chloe's fantastically sweet and amazing grandparents Shelia and Herman {we slept in Shelia's quilt-collection room and watched movies with them each evening}

For the second evening we there, we went off to a beautiful beach park to an event where we sat and watched the sunset while listening to a local artist's song. It was a whimsical song and a beautiful sunset.

I must note that we had amazing weather the ENTIRE time we were up in Seattle, it was sunny everyday... {one day it did rain a bit in the morning} Everyone we talked to kept sayin that the weather was deceiving us....

Of course we did things like visit Pike Place Market, where we bought flowers wrapped in brown paper, tied up with strings....

My mom grew up in Seattle and I had never actually been though I have grown up hearing stories about the city.
I can't wait to go back and see the city with her
and do what the Seattleites of the 70's did.

 She gave us a list of suggestions, including taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island.

We went up to Volunteer Park and Shelia took a photo of Chloe and me in front of the statue Black Sun by Isamu Noguchi.... it was where my mom took her senior photo for High School and I felt that it was really touching that I was able to visit her old neighborhood.

Chloe and I also went exploring on University of Washington's campus and we saw
Mount Rainier poking his head out of the clouds.
Apparently it's a rare occasion.

On our last evening Herman took us up to Kerry Park, on Queen Anne Hill to see the sunset over the Seattle skyline.
Our last shebang in Seattle....just majestic.

Overall it was an amazing trip and Chloe and I were just reminiscing about our buddy Attle last night and agreeing that we were both so happy to have seized the opportunity.

I loved Seattle and I hope to go visit again soon.

{shake your tail feathers}

I do love a good art project and for Halloween
I decided to become a Peacock.... tail and all.

Oh what the things you can do with
a little imagination and a petit student budget....
Fun things from your closet, gift wrapping bows,
construction paper and cheap makeup.

Great time making the costume and a great time wearing it!

my friend Jackie

Happy Halloween!

{the brilliant Burton at LACMA}

Tim Burton is brilliant, but we all sort of knew that....
Last night my friends and I went to LACMA {it was my first time!!} to see his exhibit before it closed, as it was its last weekend.

The exhibit itself was amazing, from little sketches
{one was even on a café napkin}
to large costumes and clay characters from his movies.
The pieces in the exhibit ranged from his earlier works to more recent ventures and it was very interesting to see his progression of art form and subject matter through the years.
"Where did he come up with all these ideas?"
was a common question heared throughout the gallery.

After the exhibit my friends and I played about the Lamp Posts installation
and then we went to Sunset to eat in Carney's train car.

This {the entrance} was the only photograph they let us take in the exhibit.

It was a pretty fantastic way to spend a friday night in L.A.
if I do say so myself.

{birthday greetings}

My dear friend Jean's birthday is next week
and I decided to send her a
little collaged card in the post.

She is currently a Ph.D. candidate,
{if you can't tell, I am so impressed!}
specializing in viticulture and enology.
{Hence the focus on vineyards}

She is an amazing person
and
 I am incredibly happy to have her in my life.

Happy Birthday Girl!

{snow globe-tasitic}

I have discovered snow-globe photo frames at Urban Outfitters
and now all I want to do is make a trillion of them.
(What homework?)

Not only are they super fun to make, but you can play with them!

I made this one (my first one of hopefully many) for my dear friend because it was her birthday last week!

Happy Birthday Aubrey!

Yesser... there is a baby on a carrot in this globe...
it is the logo from CakeWrecks.

Let it SNOW, let it SNOW, let it SNOW!

I put the flower background on the bottom of the globe as well, so
that when you looked down on it, you saw PINK!!

{our garden's golden ticket}

So, this summer we grew Golden Raspberries.
Yes.
Golden.
And they were stunning.

Also very, very yummy.
They disappeared as soon as they were picked.
Like magic.

Proof that these did in fact grow in our garden

André, my brother, did a stencil with gold paint the night before I took these photos and I loved having the Golden Raspberry on top of the gold paint splatter.

What can I say?
Life is just golden sometimes!

{mr. blue sky}

Feeling blue.... not in a sad way, but in a very pleasant way.
The sun finally came out early today!
Whoohoo.

Anyway, I was thinking about the song, Mr. Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra while basking in the sunshine and enjoying the blue sky.
Then I began to think that I haven't posted photos of another color and I do fancy BLUE quite a bit....

Here are some fun photos that feature BLUE!
